UNSW engaged our team to design and install a height safety system that would allow contractors to safely access rooftop plant without risking slips or damage to the roof. The roof’s undulating, wave-like surface presented a hazard for footing and required a solution that would minimise walking on the metal sheeting.
We designed a system incorporating elevated walkways, strategically placed anchor points, and guard rails to create a secure and efficient access path. Static lines were also integrated to provide continuous fall protection while traversing the roof.
One of the main challenges was handling and transporting the large volume of materials to the work area. Due to weight restrictions and roof safety considerations, pallets could not be placed in one location. Instead, we staged deliveries and moved components in smaller sections, hauling them to where they were needed. This careful planning ensured safe installation while maintaining productivity.
