Our team was engaged to make-safe and repair deteriorated concrete components along the roof slab edges and at the base of steel balustrades. The scope included removing damaged concrete, repairing and welding corroded reinforcement bars, installing formwork, and rebuilding slab edges to their original shape and profile.
The works also involved applying protective coatings, installing sacrificial anodes to prevent future corrosion, and carrying out electrode testing. These measures were designed to extend the life of the structure, eliminate concrete cancer, and restore both function and appearance.
Access presented a significant challenge, with repairs carried out in tight spaces and at height. The project required a combination of rope access and elevated work platform (EWP) operation, with technicians skilled in both trades and machinery operation. Additional complexities arose when uncovering unexpected areas of concrete cancer, increasing the scope and volume of repairs mid-project.
