This course has been designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of how to carry out their work safely and to reduce the risk of injuries. The course teaches participants techniques for lifting and moving materials manually and using basic manual handling equipment in a safe manner.
The following national units of competencies are delivered and assessed by Skylar Education RTO 21647:
- FBPOPR2074- Carry out manual handling tasks
Duration: 3-4 hours pending experience (combining theory and practical components)
Cost: $59 Inc. GST
Prerequisites:
There are no prerequisites for the course. All students must be eligible to receive nationally recognised training within Australia and be able to provide an unique student identifier (USI) upon enrolment
Entry Requirements:
- Students must have the physical capacity to be able to meet the demands of the practical demonstration skills including gaining access, working, and egress from a place of height whilst wearing the appropriate PPE
- Students must have sufficient English language, literacy, numeracy and visual interpretation skills to successfully complete the course
- Students must present photo ID upon arrival
Course Content:
- Legislation and standards
- Identifying what manual handling is and its characteristics
- Recognising manual handling hazards
- How to determine the safest method of movement to reduce the risk of injuries
- Applying different lifting and transfer techniques to safely manage manual handling tasks
- The possible consequences of not applying correct manual handling techniques
- Students are required to complete both theory and practical observation assessment activities.
The practical observation assessment activities require participants to provide video evidence of activities undertaken in a simulated workplace environment.
